JMU Wind Symphony Concert - 10/5/16

The JMU Wind Symphony will present a concert next Wednesday, October 5th at 8:00 p.m. in the Forbes Center Concert Hall.  The concert program is:
 
Oberon Overture – Weber/Lake
Symphony IV: Bookmarks from Japan – Julie Giroux
Ecstatic Waters – Steven Bryant
Cartoon – Paul Hart
 
Julie Giroux’s symphony is a 2013 six-movement work that is a wonderful addition to the wind band repertoire.  If you aren’t familiar with the piece the composer has a very informative page on her website at: http://juliegiroux.www2.50megs.com/bookmarks.html.   Steven Bryant’s Ecstatic Waters is a 2008 work that has quickly become a staple in the repertoire.  You can learn more about this piece at:  http://www.stevenbryant.com/music/catalog/ecstatic-waters-wind-ensemble-electronics.
